We've had Doree Bonner in to quote today. He was very helpful & was more than happy to answer lots of questions for us (well me actually as I had all the stupid questions ). Quote was a little bit more than we were hoping but he's given us a couple of suggestions to bring the price down a bit.

Pickfords are here tomorrow so we'll see how they compare. We had them in a couple of months ago just to give us a rough idea on how much it was likely to cost us so we'll see how much the price has changed.

Has anyone got a quote from Whites? We used them from Scotland to Perth and the only broken item was one glass! They were significantly cheaper than the rest (£2900 for sole use 20' Container, full pack/unpack). Cannot recommend them enough. Plus we had no customs issues. Container was not opened on entry and nothing was cleaned or inspected.

He may want a cuppa by the time he gets to you

He was out of here before lunch time but we've got to wait for the quote. He was quite keen to find out how much we'd been quoted by other companies but hubby just told him the cubic footage that had been quoted for.

We had a quote today from Crown. They couldn't get here to give us a proper quote so have just gone on the cubic footage already calculated by Doree Bonner & have come out about £200 more expensive plus an extra £150 more to get our stuff to us as we'll be north of Perth.

It's amazing the difference between the companies. Doree say they'll have all our stuff packed with in a few hours (we're not taking all that much), Pickfords have said a full day. We were also told by Pickfords when they came in a few months ago that we'd have to pay for a crate for our television (plus of course shipping a HUGE crate) so after weighing up the price of it decided it was cheaper to replace the television (sold the old one) & keep the box. Doree said we wouldn't need a crate & it would have probably taken up less space when packed by them than the original box would....sigh!! We want our old television back now
