Perth, Margaret River, Denmark

Re: Perth, Margaret River, Denmark
Driving back from Denmark to Perth through Pemberton and stopping overnight there, although it does seem a bit off the straight drive.
Is there a through road from Denmark to Pemberton to Perth or is Pemberton just an offshoot.
And is there a good road map of the area from Perth to Denmark including MR???
And I think Esperance would just about be outside the 500 mile or is it Km radial limit from Perth that the Hire care company allows.

Perth to Albany or Denmark is about 5 hours and it seemed to take about the same time to go from Denmark to MR the one time we did it. Denmark to Pemberton seems to be about 165 km, so perhaps allow 2 hours (see distances book in link below). Some great scenic drives around Denmark (Mt Shadforth Rd and Scotsdale Rd) and on the Lower Denmark Rd to Albany.
If you were travelling from Albany, you could drive on Albany Highway to Mt Barker, then try the Muirs Highway to Manjimup, then head southwest to Pemberton. Some of these roads have sections that appear on a list of "worst roads in WA", so be warned. We just use maps from the RAC, you might find their website useful http://rac.com.au/Travel/Self-drive-...ving-maps.aspx.

Scoopon is a great spot to enjoy your day at Melbourne, also you can watch whales if lucky. Other than that head for the desert to camp as Australia have very diverse life species without any lion or tiger to bother humans. But do be wary of aligators.

Re: Perth, Margaret River, Denmark
Just to say thanks for all the help and suggestions.
We liked Perth and Freemantle.
Eventually drove 2300 km total but wouldn't do the Denmark, Albany trip again.
MR and 120km north and south were fablus.
Really enjoyed the trip.
Of course been there done that now.
Only disappointments were the Tourist Info offices which were very poor unless buying accommodation except for Pemberton TO and the tourist caravan in Murray Street in Perth which were very helpful.
The Cellar Doors around MR were a waste of time ioo, but others would like them. To us they were just there to sell wine with little info available.
