Having lived for several years in Melbourne, I could say the same about Point Cook! I see thats where you live. Just a massive housing estate really :-)

Hobart. Recent visit, very cool place. Mona is an outstanding gallery, more of a day trip in itself. World heritage wilderness 50 mins from city. Most improved city recently brisbane. Going doen the pan, melbourne, its my main base in but disappointing of late.

We've gone a bit more up market now. Perf....more a thing of the past......
More diversity a good thing.....still can't necessary see tourism as an economic salvation.

I'd still rate Hobart first any day, and I like Melbourne, but Perth does have the advantage over Brisbane of losing the humidity, so I'd rank it third, well above Brisbane.

Nothing wrong with sarcasm Herman - it's an integral part of the English language, but then sarcasm is something that the German doesn't really get

Brissy pros: eastern state, rugby state, closer to the action
Perth pros: less humidity, less bogon Queenslander mentality?
I've been here long enough to know that all state capitals have bits that transcend the cliches...I know a Cambridge specialist surgeon who loves Brissy...
For me, Brissy might edge it but i would struggle with humidity

I simply cant decide Perth vs Brissy
Brissy pros: eastern state, rugby state, closer to the action

Not sure Rugby is an advantage.
The best thing Brisbane has going for it is the Gold Coast nearby - which is something of a cheat if you are comparing cities.

Perth is better than Brisbane. As an eastern city Brisbane is still something of a bastard stepchild, and although Perth is a long way from anywhere, you can always hop on a plane (which you'd need to do for Brisbane anyway).
Not sure Rugby is an advantage.

It means I'm doing my bit in an attempt to keep BE alive. Saying that you appear quick on the uptake to critique in a child like way, but slow to contribute much in the way of threads yourself. A bit of a vulture I'm afraid.
Your on going obsession with Germans suggests you should sort yourself out and go catch yourself a German man to rid yourself of your frustrations.
Are you really attempting to teach me the English language? Good luck with that?

Perth is probably better off for beaches, and as an added advantage you have a hope of being near one without paying a mountain of cash (just have to be away from the CBD).

I cannot comment on Brisbane from personal experience, but on hear say it has gone ahead in spades from the 'provincial small town' it was often referred to a few decades back.
I seem to recall Expo 88 gave it a massive boost with the river development. Perth is expecting such a boost with the recent inner city developments taking place, which are considerable.
Our Perth market strengths probably lay with closeness to South East Asia. it is very handy for those from Singapore and Malaysia and Indonesia and perhaps later India to nip over for a week for a taste of western culture ....
I have read write ups in the Malaysian press about Perth written quite favourably.

No you don't but coming on with attitude will only ensure you get the appropriate response back. So where are the site rules with regards to the making of sarcastic comments? The thread was totally kosher and you were welcome to contribute in a sensible form obviously.
Well BE is after all a forum and as such will have all sorts of agendas at play besides just ordinary, at times interesting posts.
Those with own agendas kept be away from BE for a considerable number of years. At least the Australian section. I only dropped by occasionally.
This time around I have lingered longer, and responded to some of the on going nonsense by a couple of posters, who likely if anything put people off.
It's an opinion that fewer are migrating but not especially one I hold as to reasons why numbers on this forum are in decline. Immigration to Australia is running at near record levels. Just the British element of it has fallen.
I trust we can communicate on less robust terms in future.

You must admit, the tone and content of some of yours and Zulu's repartee above does demonstrate the validity of my 'here we go again' comment - sarcastic by no means equals false
I would like to wish you a pleasant day (sincerely), it's freeze you bum off weather here on the Wirral. Went to look at a house by Crosby beach today. As the maximum temperature was 4C that turned out to be an error of judgement.

That probably depends on what each thinks of the other's posts - nothing wrong with robust!

Well Zulu needs to be corralled at times for his own safe keeping and convoluted thoughts which could who knows lead anywhere.
I'm just a little concerned for his wellbeing at times, but do ,my bit to help the fellow out. Good lad though. Seems to take it upon himself to help me out with my English language deficiency. Normally would cost a substantial amount to correct my mistakes. Darn unselfish all rounder is our Zulu..
One question who of sane mind would wish to be on the Wirral at this time of year? I suppose having Crosby Beach likely to yourselves and the odd dog walker is one mitigating factor.
But think I'll stay with North Fremantle/Port Beach with the odd Cottesloe outing. Try and go most days and it seems to pay off. Although not quite the same invigorating affect I admit.
I recall you have lived in Perth hence know the terrain. It is always here when tire of playing The Scouse......
