Family Tax Benefit is payable to PR visa holders from the time they arrive in Australia. It is means tested though, so how much you earn determines how much you get. Here is the link [URL]

Hi Wendy - great to hear there is something we could claim as soon as arrive in Aus as I thought we had to wait two years - do you know at what point this benefit is stoppped [ what age of children?] thanks in advance.

Up to 24 years of age - which I would imagine is if they are still in full time education and dependant on you.

Although, if you would rather not disclose all your personal details, just popdown what you are happy with people knowing, I'm sure it would be a help.

We are heading to Brisbane or maybe Townsville around February.
Im an Engineer of 22 years and need to start putting the feelers out for work.
Is there anyone out there who would consider giving me a go?
Im working with Fanuc Controls at the moment and turning to very tight limits as I work for an Aerospace Company.
I will do large batch "jig loading" production projects too.
I also have AutoCad 2D City & Guilds and like to make drawings.
If you would like to look at my C.V/Resume please do not hesitate to ask.
I will be entering Australia on a PR Visa.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for taking the time to read me.

Chris

we are thinking of making the move and as i am a nurse I will be the one earning to start with, i am prepared to work overtime etc. to make ends meet and hopefully we will go over on a PR so will be eligible for family assistance. Do you think a family of 4 can manage on a nurses wage? we will be renting and we manage to live on £2000 a month here in the Uk, so don't have an expensive lifestlye.

Hubby would look for work once we are over, he is currently in retail business management but he's not fussed what he does
