To any ex-brits in Brisbane

We are thinking of coming to Oz to live and have an engineering company (Ferra Engineering) interested in my boyfriend, I have the following questions:
1. how does the cost of living compare with england
2. how much do houses cost to rent/buy, do you have to wait a certain amount of time before you can buy
3. what is the minimum amount of money needed per week/month for an acceptable standard of living, not lavish, but with the odd trip to the pub/restaurant
4. cost of relocating
5. anyone heard of ferra engineering
6. have you ever regretted moving
7. Any other general information that could help us in our decision.
8. average wage for a skilled worker?
9. anyone transported a pet across and a container with some of their stuff.
10. was it a total nightmare relocating or was it relatively painless

And Aussie taxes are higher.
Even with the lower cost of living, it's still a lot less. I've spoken to other
people in the IT industry, and basically the rates in Sydney are a third of what you
get in London. Sydney may be cheaper, but it's not that cheap.

Particularly in the fruit and vegetable department. In terms of restaurants, I
believe there are a lot of reasonable Indian ones, but I don't particularly like
Indian food. I have never had really good Chinese food in Britain, in Australia it is
abundant. Meat is so expensive in Britain, so inferior cuts become the norm. Usually
one of the first things I do when I return home is have a nice steak, can't afford it
in Britain.
Yes I've been to Brighton. Further along the coast at Eastbourne I did have a decent
meal in a Greek restaurant. Have you been to Australia?
