As far as I was Aware she was born in Melbourne lived there for 6months then went to singapore till she was 6years old then over to England.
Hardly Australian!

I was wondering how long it would take for the cynics to state that Australia is trying to 'claim' her. In truth I think it's just an media interest item -the most cynical aspect might be that Australia media is regarding her talent as being inspired here - especially as British tennis players tend to be ''crap''(!)

I was paying attention to the box, and she gave fairly short shrift even ridicule to the Australian angle. And it was not edited in favour...

she is british she was born in aus like Nasar Hussain was born in India!

But it tunrs out she has 2 couisns who have represented Aus at senior levels in Hockey and kayaking!
