Anyone considering or already got (or had a test drive) a Subaru Tribeca 9 / Mazda CX-7 / Volkswagen Passat Wagon ? Can you please share Pros & Cons (engine performonce, build quality, value for money etc.). So far I am inclined towards Mazda CX-7 due to lower costs than Tribeca 9 and better engine performance in terms of bhp and torque. Thanks.

The Pajero was the one I fancied first when I started looking into 4x4's. I also fancy the Landcruiser, Pathfinder, well .... most 4x4's really.

Money will be a consideration, of course, so it'll probably be a decent one that is 2 or 3 years old or a new one that is cheap, like the Terracan.

I'll probably try and test-drive as many as poss to help me decide.

How much insurance do you pay on the Pajero ?
I know what you mean, why not have a look at the the Kia Sportage it gets very good reviews.

Ta.

Just looked at 'whatcar' reader reviews and they are good. Didn't realise the Sportage was so cheap !

The Sorento is superb & great value at @$35k drive away. Kia are bringing out a diesel version next year (been available in UK for years) which will be even better.

Bloody hell, that's cheap ! What's that about £15K ? About the same as a Terracan.

One of my colleagues bought one in the summer to tow the caravan. Can't remember how much they paid but it was a lot more than that. In fact, the Sorrento was voted best tower by the caravan club or something like that.

That's what made me look at it, if the caravanners like it it must be a sensible buy.

Still in UK but when I get to Oz I will buy the Nissan Pathfinder Ti. In fact I'll order one in advance so I don't have to hire a car when I get there.

I heard about some guys called car brokers in Oz, you tell them the car you want and pay a fee and they do the legwork to get you the best deal on it.

I'd try to get some more info on these before you order as I understand you are expected to haggle down there, ordering from over here may not get you the best deal.

Thanks, although I am responsible for negotiating contracts at my work and normally get prices for things that have salesmen crying as I leave the shop!

That sounds sensible, I hear that they hear a british accent and assume you have a wad of collateral in the bank. They see $$$$

hi insurance is $500 a year full comp, remember you pay TP on your rego here.
we paid about $36000 for the car it was 3 years old but one owner full history etc.

have made a claim on the insurance last year ,no probs and still kept full no claims and this year insurance was about $550 again.
