As well as the very good Nurses forum there is also this thread running at the moment. You may also want to check out the immigration forum http://britishexpats.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=32 Loads of great advice there.

Re: moving to australia
who would i get in touch with as regards to pay and system????????
That should give you most of the details you need! Bear in mind that pay in private hospitals is slightly lower.
Roster flexibility varies from ward to ward but most wards run on 8 hour shifts:
07:00-15:15
15:00-23:00
22:45-07:15
some do 12 hour shifts:
06:45-19:00
18:45-07:00
..and some do a mix of the above ( I dont know whether these are global standards or not?)
Some NUMs (Nursing Unit Mangers) will be quite flexible with rostering and allow you to set up a convenient routine like "Cant work wednesday or thursday evenings" - Others will screw themselves and see lots of resignations simply because they force all staff to be available for all shifts and show no flexibility (My wife has a lunatic boss like this). Its really the luck of the draw!!!
