Money transfer when moving to AUS
Hi all,
As the title suggests, what are the current methods of transferring money when moving from UK to Australia?
Presumably taking a few grand £££ (not millions...yet!) in your pocket is not advisable and I am no big fan of the likes of money gram/western union who convert the currency at their own rate and charge commission etc...
The only other idea that springs to mind is open an off shore bank account in Australia while i am still in UK and do an international transfer from UK to Aus.
Please advise if you know of a better way of doing this?
Cheers!

As Pollyana suggests use Tranzfers. Leave your UK bank account open (many reasons for this) arrive in Aus, open an account here and then do the transfer online.
Very simple and good rates.

You can open an Australian HSBC Account when in the UK. If you have a HSBC Advance account you can then transfer money between AU and UK accounts for free. The online banking for both accounts is also link in the same portal to make it easy.
