That would be for a unit in Carlton, and most likely ex-council flat in a tower... AFAIK median house price in Carlton is in excess of $750,000.
I didn't watch the program (can't stomach it) but I hope they did clarify what you could get for that money...
My guess is not many newer units have sold recently, hence the low median. What quarter was the figure for?

I think Carlton figures are propably skewed by a large number of those student flat investment properties...the kind that are very cheap but have a decent and normally guaranteed return.

As they say: Changes in median prices may not reflect changes in property values. A median drop could mean an increase in sale activity of lower-priced homes.

Interesting that you've bought this up ABCDiamond as it's highlighted again the fact how expensive Aus is to UK property prices with the GBP weakening again.

Average UK property price is around £180K and beginning to decline again in Round 2 from what I'm reading in the UK press. £180K is about $300K. Liverpool's average price is £120K, no more scousers to Aus then!!!

Those Counsil units in Carlton are awful. Would be like living in Croxteth again.

Probably the worst suburb in Australia. 4 Guns per person and if you're white do not go there.

I'm sure he will be along to explain how that isn't the case and it's all to do with earnings ratio

Come to Australia and live in a violent hole as that is all you will be able to afford.

No need to, you've already done it

I'll have to check the actual ratios though...
