Good question. I think not though, I think the latex mattresses are an early hybrid of the Memory foam, which I think Nasa developed some years ago! How I know this is both a mystery, and also very sad! .

Ive seen those memory foam ones going for $1200, but Im not sure if that is a good price or not.

How much would you spend on a mattress, would it be something you would invest in?

If anyone has any recommendations of good bed shops in Perth that would be very nice.

I have a memory foam pillow that I bought in the UK, I have never even sat on a memory foam mattress but I have heard they are good.
We have a memory foam mattress although we use it on the spare bed now but it was ours at first. It is incredibly comfortable, you won't be disappointed. The price is amazing too, we were wandering around department stores the other day to get a feel for prices and we saw beds costing $10k of which the mattress was about half of that. I was thinking they are not kidding on BE when they say Australia is expensive.

Hi PP, long time no speak

OH & I splashed out on a new bed when we got together...I wouldn't like to say how old & knackered our separate mattresses were....

Anyway, we really splashed out - we got one of those 3,500 pocket spring mattresses, with 5 inches of memory foam on top...it cost us £2000 but honestly, it's been worth every penny. Even the girls get into bed with us coz it's super-king & they love it too.

I would definitely say, spend as much as you can afford coz your back is precious & a good night's sleep is priceless!

Don't normally get too excited about 'domestics' but we bought a new mattress when we arrived 7 years ago and it was too cheap.

We spent $1200 (down from $1400) last year and the mattress is a lot better. Thicker, harder, with a soft strip along the top.

I can believe though why people would spend several thousand up. It's important!

Memory foam's great for nookie. The knees dig in firmly so you get a better purchase.

Yours or hers?

I still consider 1200 to be a good purchase too.

Damn straight LOL....

Dig the knees in and you can bang the shit out of each other with minimal resistance, unlike a squeaky old mattress that is a constant battle..

WOOP!
