Default mackay-schools and autism support

hi all
we currently live in new zeland after moving here from the uk 6 months ago. There's my husband and I and we have 6 children oldest being 10 and youngest 5 months
we are really struggling in nz for numerous reasons and looking at a move to oz.
my husband is a nurse and has been offered a job in mackay, queensland.
our main concern right now is schools. can people give me any information at all on schools in mackay area. good? bad? costs? etc
our 8 year old has autism (aspergers) and the support here appears non existent. can anyone advise on autism support in schools and in the mackay area in general?
thanks

Do you qualify for a visa to live Australia? If your son needs support you might find it difficult to pass the medical. If he's able to pass the medical then you may find he's too high functioning to get support.
