We're aiming for there too, we are skilled independants going on husbands job, using agent in brisbane.
the 50 weeks will make it 1st Nov '04, will get visa, hand in notice and go !!
Maybe to Albany creek? expect to rent for 6 months before buying.

We will be hopefully moving to Brisbane very soon so yes I would love to ask you about Brisbane.
I am a city girl at heart but for the last 10 years or so have lived in a smaller town with a great community and ive loved it. I guess im looking for the community spirit and hope to make lots of ozzy friends.
What areas of brisbane do you think we would like, we like the occasional visit to town for the pictures and restaurants, but also like the community spirit, any ideas?
Looks like we should rent first which is always a good idea anyway to check out an area, we got stuck in a house for 4 years in a Godforsaken place near Cambridge... never again.
We have no children, enjoy motorcycling (well we will in Oz with the weather and all and sharing meals with friends

As you should be out of the 'honeymoon' period, what is it you actually love about Brisbane (or Australia for that matter). Is it the people, the place, the westher or all of the above.
We have a choice of possible emigrating through employer migration and are in 2 minds as to chuck it all in here and sell the house... or be cautious and rent our house here until we know what we want to do.
We have no kids, no major ties here apart from the obvious and hate the following about G Britain:
Weather
Thugs
Football (sorry I know Oz is sport mad but hopefully no thugs)
Politicians
High house prices
Long hours (work)
Weather
Busy Roads
Beaurocrasy (cant spell that)

Good info about hiring stuff... could you recommend companies for hiring as we will have the same problem.. will be exporting everything so need an unfurnished apartment

All I can say is think of some reasons Oz is good for you. Jayr's repost is quite correct. Aussie politicians make the houses of parliament look civilised, domestic inflation is on the rise, thuggery is just as common (remember the cricketer bashed outside the Melbourne club), traffic conditions depend on where you live and the levels of government are just as interfering.
