Re: Kindergarten - Some Questions.
Day care: usually a childcare centre, some offer half-days, most would be full-days, sometimes childcare centres are referred to as long day childcare centres.
A childcare centre must be approved or registered, or other care providers must be registered to receive government funding and parents are to receive some sort of rebate or refund. Childcare benefit is income-tested, childcare rebate is not. More info here.
Many childcare centres also have kindy or pre-primary programs, run by qualified early learning teachers.
There's also family day care, before and after school care, and vacation care - these last 3 are also known as out of school hours care. There are also programs in some states for 3 year olds who miss the cut-off day for starting kindy at a state school.
Hope this helps, good luck in finding somewhere for your daughter.
