Wink Info on shipping quotes

Hi all,

Just in case anyone is interested I have got a few quotes for shipping 3 cubic metres (don't really know how big that is, but I decribed what we're taking and that's what they reckon). Taking - clothes, towels, bedding, kitchen stuff (only crockery, cutlery, pans etc.) bike, gym bench, large punchbag (no, I don't mean me!) big mirror.

Quotes so far, door to door including packing but not including insurance :

Excess International £576
John Mason £595

Waiting for a quote from Allied Pickfords

Hope this helps people in the same boat.

Jo

I don't know. Just went through the shipping thing myself.
3 cubic metres is equivalent to 81 cubic feet. If you think about it that's the volume of a small box room, seems like plenty for what you are taking.

Anyway, make sure you take the cheapest quote to the mover you were the happiest with (personally for me it was crown) and get them to come under that quote. We got them to come down to the cheapest quote and then 5% under to ensure they got our business.

Hi,

Thanks for your replies. I wasn't sure about the cubic meterage either, but I suppose that whoever is the cheapest for 3 cubic metres will probably be the cheapest for a bit more. If it is, as you say, the size of a box room then I think that will be plenty of room. Have just phoned Crown and am waiting for a quote from them.
