Hi,

I have a question regarding Invitation to Apply i.e how does it works.

If Invitation is only issued on the basis of Higher points or it also takes the ANZCO Code / Profession into consideration as well.

E.g. if most of the EOIs are submitted are in IT Professions having points from 70 to 75. Will only those higher points will get the Invitation or if someone is applying as a Specialist Physician (General Medicine) - ANZSCO 253311 with 65 points can also get the ITA in the same draw since e.g. maximum points in that profession are 65 ?

I will try to put it other way around too. ITA is only issued on the basis of higher points or maximum points of each different profession category are taken into consideration as well.

Would really appreciate if someone can answer.

Most invitations are issued as a group to those with the highest points regardless of occupation. If an occupation reaches it's ceiling however, no invitations will be issued to EOI's for that occupation. Some of the occupations have been subjected to rationed invitations, and those occupations have invitations issued separately.

Hi Sparkles, just a query regarding the link u posted. I am a civil engineer and will be looking to start the process for my skilled independant visa June 2019. I noticed from the link u posted for my job criteria 70 points would be required as opposed to 60. Am I reading this correctly? If you can shed some light it would be appreciated.

Civil Engineer is ANZSCO 233211 and not subject to pro-rata but no invitations were issued in the last round to EOI's with less than 70 points so in that case, occupation is not relevant. However, to be eligible for an invite initially you only need 60 points, and if all higher point EOI's are exhausted they will issue invites at this level. The higher the points, the quicker the invite though and if you can get to 70+ points with IELTS or similar, it would be good to do so.

Edit - as an afterthought, if you cannot get to this points total, perhaps look to state sponsorship as there invites are issued separately.

At the moment, no one regardless of occupation is being invited for a 189 with less than 70 points. This may change July 1.
