It certainly isn't as good as it was. There used to be a reasonable level of truth about it, but its sliding downhill now - ignoring basic facts, as you say.
I spend a large part of my workig life onitoring media and its sad to see so many outlets going downhill like this.

Too old to get over it now, I'm just counting the days till I can retire. That's about the best I have to look forward too!

I find it almost impossible to read mainstream media these days, except about ultra-local stories. Reporters are pushing a political agenda, don't care about facts, and will abuse you if you disagree with them. Right-wing and left-wing.

The family in this case was trying to start a public outcry in hopes they would be given an exception, and a journalist pushing a political agenda decided to carry their water.

Its a Guardian article. When its from the Guardian always consume knowing there always another side to the story that the Guardian will never tell you about. The Guardian always loves left wing self entitlement.

You are joking? Any journal needs to be consumed with the knowledge that the ideological slant of owner and editor will influence proceedings.

There is very little in the way of a totally free press. At least The Guardian does present another side, away from the usual right wing slant bordering on extreme, if referring to tabloids like Daily Mail or Daily Express.

The Guardian is left leaning....hardly hard core left. I for one, have a number of issues with their columnists.

But saying that The Guardian does not hide behind a pay wall and still provides a quality in news presentation, as does Daily Telegraph (torygraph)

I'd actually say they are centralist, liberal (in the true sense of the word) leaning - maybe slightly social democrat at time. If anything they are greenies.

For instance, they are to right of Corbyn.

My problem is they keep given oxygen to loony feminist types that think men are the cause of all ills and are authoritarian at heart. It's a major fault with them.

I don't think you read it very much. Most of their columnists make Corbyn look right of Thatcher.

+1. I'm not even going to bother to participate any more, any comment you make that doesn't follow one or the other 'camp's' agenda is simply ignored. Who can be arsed.
