Moving to Aus
Hi everyone. Hoping someone can help. We would like to move to Australia but there is some confusion about eligibility under the independent skilled visa. I have been an intelligence analyst for 8 years and currently an investigations manager (both law enforcement). I have a degree in sociology and social policy and a postgraduate diploma in forensic psychology. My husband is also in law enforcement as the head of his department in ops. He is also ex-army. The thing is, im not really sure what we can fall under and keep getting different responses. would one of us be eligible for this type of visa?
Hoping for any advice please.
Thanks

Re: Moving to Aus
You need to go to Australian Government Department of Immigration and Border Protection and look at the skills lists to see if either of you have a skill on the list. Without that your options are very limited. You also don't say how old you are but the age limit is 45, so if you're close to that you will need to get moving on the application.

You should bear in mind that employment in the areas you are experienced in for the Australian government will very likely require you to be Australian citizens.

It may be worth speaking to a good registered migration agent to see if you have any options, at the moment I cant think of a category on the skills lists which you could apply under. Do though be very careful about any advice recommending temporary visas.
As mentioned, it is though likely that your occupations would be federal in nature in Oz and getting a job in federal role normally needs citizenship which would require you to live in Oz for 4 years prior to applying
