Hello I am new! Have a couple of questions about moving to Australia
Hello Everyone,
I visited Australia for a month is 2007 whilst pregnant and since then i have been determined to emigrate. My childrens god father has since moved to Melbourne and I do have some distant relatives in Darwin.
I have three young children aged 5/3 and 1. Myself and Their dad have split up recently but he supports the move and wants to also make it himself. In an ideal world we will be back together when we move but i cannot see that far in the future at the moment.
The plan is to move over in six yrs time when my daughter finishes her primary school.
The two things i currently need the most advice on are,
1) My daughter is physically disabled. She does have medical needs and this involves expensive equipment. We have a trust fund for her and hope to have a significent amount of funds in it by the time i would apply to go over but would this affect the application?
2) I am a patron of a charity and i am going to start my foundation degree in Youth and Community work next year. I used to work in Human Resources. A while back i saw the Human Resources Adviser Role was on the list and i was going to complete my training and experience in this role. Now i have had a career change i would like to work in the area of community/charity/families/disability and i am not sure what jobs are on the list and likely to stay on there for when i apply in six yrs time. I wonder if i can also qualify and gain enough experience?
Any help or advice would be great.

I think the best place for you to get answers will be in our Australia section. I'll move this post to save re-typing

Your daughter's disability could well be a deal breaker for a visa unfortunately but none of us can tell you, you would be wise to run it past one of the agents who specialize in medical conditions - George Lombard and Peter Bollard are usually mentioned in this regard.

Re: Hello I am new! Have a couple of questions about moving to Australia
In all honesty, I am not hopeful that this will happen for you. The occupation is not one that clearly qualifies and these types of occupations come and go in terms of the skills list, so very hard to say what will be the case in the future.
Even if it is though, the bigger hurdle is definitely your daughter passing the medical, trust funds etc will not be taken into consideration, it will be about the estimated cost of her care. I agree it would be worth a chat with a migration agent specialising in medical issues which you could do now, but then I would do it again nearer the time as well.

Be careful moving out here if your Baby daddy moves here too, it's possible he could stop you returning home with your daughter if things don't work out.
