I worked as a call centre agent for three years with the private health fund ahm (Australian Health Management), based in Wollongong, NSW, but cover people Australia-wide and they particularly have good hospital policies. We had lots of members of other funds switching to ahm because they had better deals and there is no limit to how many days you can stay in a hospital, unlike some other funds. Check their website www.ahm.com.au. Hope this helps

Only MBF. Spent much of last year in hospital and it cost me a fortune. The fund payback was minimal although they paid the hospital bills.

Insurance here isn't anything like the UK.
