Hi everyone

Just discovered this forum and it seems great. Have read your messages with interest.

Just wanted to ask anyone living in Oz at the moment what employment is like for legal secretaries and CCTV engineers.

Also wanted to ask although my husband has 15 years work experience in CCTV/alarms/locksmith he doesn't actually have physical qualifications. Would his work experience be enough or would he need to go to college to gain qualifications.

Although ideally I would like to move asap I think we are aiming to move in 5 years time when stepson has finished school.

Many thanks in advance
Miranda

Sorry cannot give you any answers but maybe an agent like http://www.gomatilda.com could give you some idea.

Good luck.

Hi

Welcome to the forum.

As regards your husband's line of work CCTV/alarms/locksmith - I dont know about jobs but have you checked that his skill is on the MODL or SOL list - can find this on the Australian Immigration website (I can never remember the name but a google search will find it!!) You should also download Booklet 6 which is a guide book of sorts which you should familiarise yourself with.

As for lack of formal qualifications, you shouldnt worry looks like he has more than enough experience to compensate for that - as long as you do an indepth "essay" for whoever will be assessing his skills as to what he does on a daily basis and go into it in great great detail.

As for legal secretaries I honestly couldnt say for right now but when I was out there travelling 10 years ago, salaries were very good and I was always in demand. With legal secretaries, its a specialist area so to speak and I would have thought as in the UK, there is always demand. Depending on where you end up, polish up your cv join a few good agencies, they will keep you right as to what is the best layout of your cv and just go for it.

All the best
