Not for the OP, post #1 above (which is what I was responding to), they aren't. .... Unless Australia has "paving" indoors.

Ah i see - he was in WA, the ants probably have different habits there. We long ago ceased responding to him, he has a habit of asking questions and never saying thanks, we don't even know if he ever takes our advice on anything. I just resurrected his thread with my own version of the question.

Borax has worked for me - get it at BigW - it's an old fashioned cleaning solution and looks like baking soda. As Caroline said above, mix a small amount with honey on a piece of cardboard and feed - they'll be gone in 3 days though may return after the next rain. My neighbour swears by a few drops of eucalyptus oil in a spray bottle to form a barrier around all the perimeter areas including doors and windows. She also uses it on work tops and as a surface spray. Maybe it was the joint effort that got rid of the buggers.

Useful for me. I might get the Talon Ant killer Gel for when summer arrives.

Although they don't really bother me too much. Just annoying.
