Hi there

Can anyone give me the latest update on German regulations as respects obtaining German citizenship via marriage. I have been married to a German citizen for 18 years but have never lived in Germany - he resides and works out of Germany. What are the regulations concerning applying for German citizenship? e.g. in some countries the spouse automatically qualifies for the citizenship of their mate. I have been told that since December 2000 regulations have changed!

Hello

you will have to live in Germany for 5 years in order to be able to apply for
citizenship.
