Furnished accom for new arrivals
Can anyone help or give any advice of places to stay or stay away from?? I've been on abcdiamond's website which has been a great help, thanks ABC. But if anyone out there has a personal experience they could add would be brilliant.
Oh by the way we are heading to Brisbane, anywhere to start with until we find where we want to settle.
Were looking for a two/three bedroomed fully furnished house that allows dogs (to be kept indoors!) we also have two children so a pool would be fantastic but not essential. It would be for a period of 2 - 3 months until we have found our feet.
I have found one house through mygratemates that is on a complex and allows dogs, the house is in Carina. Can anyone give me info on this area or if you have used mygratemates?
Thanks
Marie

We're staying in a short-term rental 2-bedroom apartment at "The Manhattan on Newstead" in Newstead. There is a dog and a cat in the building at the moment - owned by different tenants. It's probably not what you're looking for but you can negotiate with the resident manager if want to keep pets indoor.
If you have a look at the following site, you might find something more suitable:

Good luck!

Re: Furnished accom for new arrivals
I know that the Koala Homes house in Capalaba is very popular, but normally only for a few weeks at a time.
There are houses at Cleveland Terraces that have also been popular with various people I know, but I don't think anyone has had pets with them so far.
Having pets may cut down your options.
Carina is a good location for the City, and it is also near the motorway, so good for going Noprth or South. It's also not that far from the Bayside/Redlands area. For example, it took me 25 minutes to drive there this morning at just after 8am. And then just another 30 minutes, from there, to get into Elizabeth street in the City. (But it is school holiday times, so maybe less traffic ?)
Glad you like the info on my site. I will update it again soon, and i've recently put the links to the other local area forums on it.
If anyone has any info, ideas or updates to put in my "New to Australia" section, please let me know.

It is pretty quiet and polite isn't it
I check it out each day aswell, amongst the other sites that I frequent But I tend to get more involved with people heading over to the Redlands/Bayside area, as that's the area I know best.
