Default First Home Owner Grant / Stamp Duty

Hi,
Any help would be much appreciated.
I am currently in the process of selling my house in the UK and also going through the process of buying my first home in Australia (currently renting).
Do I qualify for the FHOG and do I need to pay stamp duty if the amount is under $500K?
Thanks

Are you building a new house?

It seems to have been phased out last year for existing homes.

You'll find the stamp duty details on the OSR site too.

You won't qualify for FHOG as you have owned a house elsewhere in the world. Stamp duty is 10% (which I have just paid) - the cheapest in Australia.

This is irrelevant in states where the FHOG still exists, such as SA It was withdrawn in Queensland in October 2012 I'm afraid.

Just checked the eligibility as it would have been prior to October 2012, and it does not say anything about property ownership outside of Australia

Alfresco, you say stamp duty is 10%? That's massively higher than what our solicitors have suggested.
