Thats a brilliant point. I remember in 1999 when i came to Aus for holiday how cheap it was to buy a house. I dont mean an average one in a craphole either. Some were 'dearer' but still bloody cheap! WHat has let Australia down is the totally unrealistic MASSIVE house price rises that kicked off around 2003/2004 until financial crash.. Within three years prices as an average were going up 3 or even four times! At the least! I came over in 2006 and so wished i came just two years earlier as house we bought was HALF the price.
In what way has this let Australia down? Houses are still selling

I think the risk of moving anywhere, is solely a personal one, we all have different lives, different jobs, or not, if the answer is not, then there's not as much risk, if you have jobs, then the risk is higher.

Labour costs are almost irrelevant in mining operation these days. Highly skilled workers demand similar pay across the world - try employing a geologist or mining engineer anywhere.
Lower level workers are insignificant.
In 1973 Markham Colliery employed 1,870 men below ground and 425 on the surface to produced about 30,000 tons per week of saleable coal.
Thats about 13 tons a WEEK per man.
The same year Illinois mines were producing between 12 and 76 tons per DAY per man.
(you can see why they closed the UK coal mines down...)
On a typical Australian open cut mine today 38 workers were producing 5,000 tonnes of coal per shift. Two shifts a day, 312 days a year.
Thats 131 Tonnes per man per shift.
So labour costs arent really a big issue.

you have less than zero understanding of mining economics and yet you go posting about an end to the Australian mining boom because of labour costs. Making such predictions may well sway someone from migrating - and I must assume that was your intention.
Its foolish and irresponsible. And when you are pulled up on it you post a grinning icon in the same way that the village idiot grins after causing mayhem.
Grow up for Gods sake. Take some responsibility for your actions.
