Re: Family Income Query
Water $70 (210 per 1/4) - we spend $300 +
Elec $92 (276 per 1/4) - not sure as we are on solar
Gas $50 (150 per 1/4) - more like $300+ in the winter, $150 would be a summer figure.
Rates - $2500 per year
House insurance - $1200 per year
etc etc

I don't believe you pay water rates if you're renting. We pay a little more than your estimates for gas and electric and pay fortnightly so we don't get huge bills (I find electric is very pricey). We spend no more than $1000 a month on food/toiletries and only hubby pays to commute to the city. We only have one car which is also paid outright and don't spend $300 a month on fuel x

Ah okay, thanks. Different leases I guess. Our tenants in the NT don't pay for water

Different rules in different states - and maybe even depends on the contract. My water has always been included "up to a reasonable usage", thats in Queensland, and its never cost me anything.

Re: Family Income Query
I suppose the water will depend on the state, property and landlord, so if we just include it if you pay it or if you rent just leave it out obviously.
I am just trying to gage on much I am out a month $100-200 in total.... or is it more or maybe less!

The one thing you do need to consider with water is whether you are looking for somewhere with a pool?

Remember everything is only rough figures - and Beoz is quite right in the last comment.
This is not a cheap country, there's some great lifestyle opportunities but you normally need some money to take advantage of them.

I've seen it before where companies have hired Brits based on an exchange rate. That doesn't work.
