Default Re: FA Cup

Question about the FA Cup itself.

I know the one they now present to the winners is not the original.
Is the original still around somewhere?

The Scottish FA Cup is the oldest Association Football trophy in the world, and is therefore priceless.
Because of its unique status in world football it now never leaves Hampden Park. It lives in The Scottish FA Museum in the stadium.

It is the original that is presented to the winning team at The Scottish Cup Final, & they get to do the lap of honour etc. with it. It then goes back to the museum. The winners take away an exact replica which was made a few years ago.

Anyway, what about The English FA Cup? Anybody know anything about the original?

If you'd asked earlier you could have bid for it. Yours for 420,000 quid.

Oldest FA Cup sells for £420,000

Ok, its not the original FA cup, but the original one was stolen and believed melted down for its silver.

I love this bit

It was replaced by the FA in 1909 after holders Manchester United made a replica and the body realised it did not own the copyright.
Maybe thats what ManU can do this year. Make their own replica and parade it round the streets of Manchester to chants of 'we wuz robbed'!!!
