I buy coles 3 for $5.50, its ony for the kids lunchies. I will admit to bread being pricey.

but what do you buy that bumps the price up so high if its just for a week. I think you will probably find you could live out of your freezer for 2months. I good joint of beef is only $10. Come on give us your shoppping list.

Your avatar shows you with 2 babes, if they were teenage lads you would probably find they ate more than you and the husband, quite possibly doubling your food bill.

If you divide 250 a week by 4 adult ( appetites ) its probably no more than you spend pp taking age into account.

$10 for a joint of beef, not over here it isn't. 2 bits of rump steak were $17. Leg of lamb $14, Chicken, $14. This week I did seem to need a lot of housey stuff, washing powder, fab softner almost $20 in those 2. $18 for pull ups for the little one. Toilet roll and kitchen roll another $10. Cereal for me and the husband this week was over $10. 4 loaves of bred, 3 packs of rolls, 4 jugs of milk. Talking almost $40 in those. It soon adds up.

I include all the expensive extras that babies need like nappies, wipes etc, not edible but by comparison I still would not spend much more than I do!! I buy meat/ chicken in bulk, split, freeze n bulk out portions with veggies, this wouldn't cost much more with a coupla more 'adults' in the house. My kiddiewinks are also growing and you wouldn't believe at times how much they eat, they know how to open the fridge too!!!LOL

YOu are drinking too much milk! Buy meat out of the butchers....better quality and value.

I agree that when you start with toiletries, baby stuff and washing stuff, it all starts to add up at the counter.

One thing I do is make sure that the butcher separates the meat into sections for freezing i.e. if I buy six chicken breasts, I have them in 3 x 2 packets, otherwise you defrost too much and either over eat or waste.

I also buy things like mushrooms canned as we are always running out of them or wasting them. I also don't buy something for a while if we are always wasting it i.e. yoghurt.

We could switch for a week , baby wipes for pimple scrub, that sorta thing. Plus babies are cuter than teens.

Seriously you would need more food, the 14 year old considers half a chicken and 4/5 veg a bit skimpy, a loaf of good quality grain bread does the sandwhiches for one lunch, 3/4 litres of milk some days, its just the growing, the elder one was just as bad, yet they are all slim or skinny. Teenage boys are a legend appetite wise, mine are nothing compared to some that come over, one kid has about half a box of sultana bran for breakfast then 4 slices of toast, the mind boggles what happens after that

It's more that some of the posts talk bout spending $300 - over $400 pw!! That's mental!! Yeah, I appreciate the hungry teens n what your spending is relatively low too. Just saying that we've got it to what we have, we all eat well and it includes all houshold n baby extras!!
