Instead they may be looking at parking those funds in the UK in the hope the the exchange rate improves.
Could get a lot worse exchange rate if the £ is devalued. Can recall not so long back people holding on for a little bit more than $2.2 to the £. How they wish they'd dealt back then eh

ISAs are just ordinary accounts which are tax free. Often the interest rate is dire so you still need to keep a very close eye on prevailing rates or your savings could be eroded by inflation.

Its been unofficially devalued already, just look at its loss of value against major currencies, about 20-30% in one year!

Yes, an official devaluation is unlikely but not impossible, it has happened before and in some ways would benefit the country. It would of course hurt anyone emigrating, unless they have diversified their assets.

Is that not the point of fixed rate Isa bonds and also stocks and share Isas?

Less attractive to S.R. tax payers I would agree, but for someone to say they are rubbish without an alternative is not helpful as this thread is about moving money or finding the best UK saving rate.

Was thinking 20-30% was too high but on 02/03/09 got a rate of $2.18 and now at $1.68 gives a drop of 23%, that is really scary in 12 months.

I never said they were rubbish (sorry, I answered your question to someone else's statement). Yes there are different varieties of them but in their original form - which is what my OH has invested in, the returns are not so great because of the fluctuating rate of interest. But it's her money and I can only suggest to her what's my opinion for better ways to invest it.
