No I did not. Find me a post to prove that?

Find me a post that says that.

In the long, long run you rarely lose out with property.
You are dreaming up opinions again.

But good to see you finally admit (in bold) that the UK won't suffer from Brexit forever.

It's not worth the bother. At some point I posted links to bad news of the economy; you pointed out that foreigners buying up property contradicted that; I'm not going to trawl through posts.

Ok so the market is now at 0.63 ish so I've been thinking about putting some £ in my UK account. I've looked on the currency shop and Worldfirst, OFX and HiFX appear to be the best rates, has anyone used these before? I haven't transferred any money that way since I've been here.

Yep. Something about commodities. The AUD rose against everything.

We've used HIFX many times and UK/OzForex many times and would have no hesitation in recommending either. We've moved £'s to $'s and $'s to £'s with both. We've also used CBA in the past but for sizeable amounts when the rate matters you'll do better with the likes of HIFX/UKOzForex than a bank.

For those interested, I've just done a comparison between the Commonwealth Bank and OFX, by logging into my accounts with both.

If I wanted to put 10,000 pounds into my UK bank account from my Oz one tonight, it would cost almost AU$800 more if I used the bank.

Yep, if you want to get the best rate on FX you use a specialist FX dealer not a bank. Banks don't offer as good a rate to the man in the street as an FX dealer.

Not really. When it comes to doing international stuff, Commonwealth have no clue.

I had to laugh at myself after my most recent fx transaction. I'd been waiting until the referendum results were in before completing the biggest transaction I'd ever done.

Sat up until about 3am, monitoring the OFX exchange rate, and had 3 long distance telephone conversations with a broker at the Sydney desk.

When it looked like the rate had peaked in my favour I completed the transaction and went to bed exhausted but smug.

I should have just gone to bed at my usual time. Next day I could have got a rate that would have seen me AU$9,000 better off
