ED Nurse and teacher move to brisbane

Re: ED Nurse and teacher move to brisbane
Hi Jamie,
I am a respiratory clinical nurse specialist (NHS band 7). I have a job on the sunshine coast starting April 10th doing exactly the same as the role I have in the UK.
I looked at the 189/190 visa option but at the time I only had 55 points assuming I got full IELTS points. My age (48) scored zero points and that is what hampered me! I have however asked for and secured sponsorship (457) which is a temporary visa (4 years). There are down sides to the 457 such as being tied to my employer for the duration but it got me a visa that also allows my wife to work in Australia. I can get an extra 10 points after I have worked in Australia for a year (5 for 12 months work and 5 for my employer supporting my 190 visa application) so this will give me residency. You need to apply for residency before you are 50! I plan to apply for the 190 next year assuming we settle at stay in Australia.

The only possible would be an employer sponsored PR. However, this would need to be done before you turn 50 as it has a catch - employers sponsored applicants must have earned the higher income threshold for the 4 years previous. This year, that is $132,000.

You have not considered the age limit criteria. Applicants for permanent skilled migration must be under the age of 50.

If occupation is on that state list and on the CSOL and the points pass is still 60. Things can and do change.

Cheers for this response, my thoughts were the same. Apply in 12 months time when I am 49 and it will hopefully be straightforward.
