yeah those nets are feckun expensive, especially the really big ones. You could try supergluing the wheels to the ground, that might help slow it down enough that you could just run after it.

www.qantas.com.au - then you put in from 'perth' to 'london' ,this majyk device will tell you all you need

I checked this yesterday so I could decided weather to book a one way flight or return, as some other members have. I searched for 1 way flights from Manchester to Perth for 3 of us in Nov and it was £1278. I then searched for flights from Perth to Manchester on the same day and it was about £200 dearer in total. Helps a bit to just gives an idea of prices.

And now it has just got a whole lot dearer with Qantas announcing unspecified increases in fuel surcharge, with other airlines expeced to follow suit.

Yep more expensive, and the prices are advertised wihout taxes, which are now between $400 - $600+ a person

Cheapest time to get out is late oct or feb, of course people with kids in school cant go then so for. But you see ads fro around $1499 plus the taxes, so even cheap airline, cheapest time you are now looking at $2000 minimum, much more expensive school hols, xmas.

Perth you might occasionally get a tiny bit cheaper.

Trip back for us as a family this year just under $11,000 :scared: :scared: and thats fares and taxes only. Sort of kills the much used saying family are only a flight away, yes a flight and a flaming huge amount of cash.

In April we paid $1850 each return flights (including taxes) from Sydney to London flying Emirates with a free stopover in Bangkok. We liked that we could fly into Gatwick instead of Heathrow as well. I know you wanted from Perth but thought I would share anyway!!

I flew back a few months ago and it cost just over $2k including taxes. :scared:

I think you will be lucky to find much under $2k from over on the east side (you may get lucky being on the west) but for rough budgeting use this figure. Certainly nothing like the 800 quid I flew the other way for.

Friends of ours had a bit of a row with Emirates a few months ago:

They booked flights for a family of 5 to travel back to the UK. They've had to pay something like $8k. They worked out how much it would cost them to do the same mileage from Heathrow to Perth then back to the UK....something like $6k!! The same amount of fuel is used....why the $2k difference?

They called up Emirates who said basically they can charge whatever they like in Oz! That's just the way it is. It's nothing to do with mileage or fuel consumption.

Disgusting.
