Yes but only 1/7 of the price of the Iceberg is visible...

I find BBQ/camping weeks to be more too, glad I'm not the only one. I don't why but I always used to think that a barbie was a cheap meal... probably still is, but whenever we have one we tend to cater for half a dozen people upwards

I know we're in summer now, but the other day I was referring to going away one July sometime. My conversation still started with 'well, if we go away mid-summer' D'oh! Made more complicated by the fact I was talking about going to the UK I think

Aye that is what I mean - if iceburg lettuce is cheap now (ie Aussie Summer) then I will only eat it in summer (when salads are meant to be eaten). In Winter (Aussie) I shall stick to the pies or something, because I am damned if I am paying $3 for lettuce in a season when it should never be eaten anyway!!

Woman in the cafe at work yesterday ordered a chicken salad to take-away..... the girl put some chicken in the box, then a mixed salad, to which the woman said "Just lettuce please, none of that other nasty stuff"!!!
At the price of lettuce thats probably a gourmet salad actually - chicken and dry lettuce...yumm!

As for the original question here are some averages for us
Electricity - $170/month (no, Im not kidding, Im sure we should buy shares in Energex )
Cars - too hard for us, one car gets used alot, the other hardly ever.
Groceries - around $600/month
House insurance - will have to check, its just increased, bigger house, increased contents insurance = bigger bill.
Rates - $150/month (not had a bill for new house yet, but imagine it will be similar)
Phone - $70/month
Cant help with private school fees (state school books & extras for the year would be no more than $200/child max), mobile (Dagboys paid for by work, mine is just a prepaid & hardly ever use it) or health insurance (also paid for by work) but anything else specific just ask & someone will be bound to know it.

Actually, it will be interesting to see if the amount drops because we have a monitored security alarm fitted now or if it makes no difference.
