Depends on how you do it - distance learning is cheaper and can be balanced with normal work - makes for long evenings though! As for cost - will depend on what you are doing, how you are doing it, and where from. I finished my MBA a few years ago and didn't pay a penny - all courtesy of my previous employer!

Some MBA's are not worth the paper they're written on and some employers will only entertain specialist business schools / universities, with known accreditation.
Employers also seem to like a mixture of real life work experience with the right MBA qualification, as neither seems to be of much value without the other

I agree with Pheonix whilst you can get an MBA through many routes, some are simply not worth the paper they are written on. And also agree that an MBA without real life experience may not be entertained by employers.
I did my MBA at Warwick Business School, on their distence learning programme. Personally I would reccomend the business school to anyone who is seriously thinking of doing an MBA. Before I decided which one I made sure that it was accredited by the AMBA (Association of MBA's.).
Best of luck in your search, and when you do get on one, you will/should really enjoy it. I know I did, even though it was bloody hard work.

Ohh .....something else that's come to mind that may be of importance/relevance/use;
I am almost 100% sure an MBA must be accredited with AMBA standing in order for it to be recognised within the Australian education institutions, and as such, only then will you gain the relevant tertiary points from DIMIA for skilled independant migration.
Shop around. Price does not always = the most valuable or most viable option. With all due respect £3,000 PA is a VERY low fee..... so maybe check it out and find out why.
Good luck

If you're asking about a Vetassess assessment for an MBA degree from the UK, AMBA accreditation is irrelevant. They just look to see if the university is on their 'official' list of UK universities.
Employers might well care but that is a different question. They may want more than just AMBA accreditation too.
An MBA is unlikely to get an assessment in any 60 point occupation - 50 points is usually the maximum. This should be noted by anyone planning on using an MBA as the basis for migration to Australia.

I understood it would not get an assessment - all points from occupation come from the crediting professional institute in Australia, who will not have anything to do with the organisation that gave the MBA.

You get points from AIM [Australian Institute of Management] only as a result of having relevant post grad qualifications AND being at the right level within an organisation [Executive level and above].........AND having a minimum of 4 years experience at Executive level.
Also, the MBA is only recognised by AIM if it has the correct accreditation i.e only if your MBA is on the "official" list noted by JAJ. Otherwise Nil points
According to conversations I had with AIM, my MBA had to have AMBA accreditation in order for me to get the points, AND I had to be a Senior Exec [or above] with 4 years experiance at this level. THEN I got the points awarded for Skilled Independant

Thanks for that Phoenix - I never even considered this as route to get in - academic now, as I'm here!
I just did some searching on the www and was amazed at the number of MBA courses that are out there now!
