Howard Jenings is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Chook house

Looking to get 3 or 4 chooks, but need somewhere for them to live. We are massively limited here in regional WA as to what is available and were wondering if anyone had bought one they could recommend. I am not that hot at DIY so that needs to be avoided.

Even though you are not good at DIY, knocking one of these things up is a piece of piss. I helped a mate build one last year (mainly because I have all the tools!) and it took us a day and cost no more than $250 - and a case of Corona.

Check out the permaculture sites, you will probably find designs for a chook tractor on them. My son built one for a friend quite recently so dont imagine it would take much skill

I would have been quite happy to build an A frame but the boss bought a shed thing on Ebay. Pretty flimsy really.

Good to build a perch, and a nesting area - make sure there is a collection point from the outside.

A friend down the road keeps his chooks in an old ambulance in the back garden.

Didnt have to drive a single nail in.

Look up chicken mower. We have one it is a metal chicken coup with sleeping area, perch and laying shelf one end. Open wire mesh the other end. It has retractable wheels one end handle the other. You move it to a different bit of the garden every few days. Chickens love it open the door 1st thing to let them out and at dusk they make their own way back in decide who is sitting where and you just close the door to keep them safe. Oh and you just collect the eggs off the shelf

Built this last year. Quite easy to do, took about 1 weekend.
Great hobby; 4 chooks = 4 eggs per day

My girls are getting old now, I have 9 of them and I would be lucky to get 2 eggs per day from them.

Just seen this post,

The big pet shop near Bunnings sells chickens and also think they had the various hutches, sheds etc for keeping animals in.
