That seems like a great price. Yea the price of fuel seems cheap when we are in the UK but when we are on Oz soil earning $ it will be a very different story!
Thanks for the prices. So you didn't have to pay GST on top of the RRP price? Just stamp, delivery, rego and insurance?

Hi Mike
I was going for a WRX, but the tight sods at work wouldn't let me have that much. So I got the 2.0ltr R Auto, pearl black with mats and tinted glass. I was quoted around $35-$36k but this was a showroom model with 80kms on it.

This (and its sister site www.discountusedcars.com.au) are fantastic.
I'm still at the researching stage (unfortunately), but this looks like a great help!

We have been looking at lots of website to try and get the prices for 1 or maybe 2 new cars. I have a few questions with regards to what hidden charges there are:
1. We are looking at RRP, will we pay less on the forecourt like we do in the UK or is the RRP what you pay?
2.We have to register it and that includes 3rd party insurance, I have heard rego is about $350??
3. Insurance - same as here I guess
4. Do we then pay GST on top of the RRP price?
Is there anything else we should be adding on? Some cars (Nissan Pathfinder and Toyota Yaris and Rav4) are so much cheaper than here - are we missing something?
Thanks

Hiya
I would say for a new car NEVER pay the RRP. Are you moving to a major city? If so then you have it made as there will be dealers all about. The big sales unfortunately you just missed (end of financial year). We bought a new Subaru Forester XL and saved about $6k. Dealer tried to charge me for dealer freight as the colour we wanted had to come from Melbourne - I said no, cancel everything then. Within an hour Subaru had offered to pay the cost ($1k), so stand your ground. Subaru are now running out 06 models as the new 07 ones come in - this will probably be the same for other manufacturers.
Best bet is to google for a forum on your preferred car type. We did this for Subaru and had heaps of useful threads about cost/inclusions etc from the folk who knew -
Good luck!
