Brisbane DOG SWAP
I'm looking for a dog lover to care for my beautiful two year old GSP in their own home while I am on holidays. In exchange I will care for their dog in my own home.
I can't bring myself to put my dog in kennels for weeks at a time.
If there is anyone interested in a such an arrangement please PM me.
I live in the Cleveland area of Brisbane.

Why not just get a house sitter?

Yes, I had given a house sitter some thought, but I'm not 100% comfortable with someone that I don't know living in my house.

Yet you're happy to advertise on a forum full of strangers where's no criminal checks or background checks are provided unlike with "pro" house sitters?? Mind boggles...

"pro" house sitters can also be criminals!! I know of someone who was robbed by a house sitter and their house was left a mess! As for advertising on this forum full of strangers.....I would like to get to know where my dog is going first and I'm sure the other person would like to know that their dog is going to a safe and caring environment ........ it would be mutually beneficial for both sides.

I think it's a good idea and if i was in Brisbane I would be calling you to arrange something. It costs us a fortune putting our Basset Hound in kennels, he is only there for three or four long weekends and a two week holiday each year, but it adds up. He would be much happier staying with another family. Good luck with your search.

Thanks also. I may give this some serious consideration as I'm sure my dog will be much happier remaining in his familiar home!

I was really expecting an Edmonds-esque ,,'I have a power drill and want a cocker spaniel' type of thread myself,

Do a web search for housesitting sites. Plenty out there and many with some sort of insurance and people having to be vetted.
Me and my wife house sat for a couple over xmas just gone but Cleveland is a bit too far afield for my wifes work commute. So just saying it's becoming a pretty big thing in Oz and from what I've heard is mainly trouble free
