A big blow to the big Aussie ego....... WC 2022
Australia is the best country in the world and Australians are the best nation..... and.... Julia Gillard, Paul Hogan, and the Kangaroo gang put up the best presentation ever seen by the world.... despite this, how could those FIFA idiots eliminate Australia!! and, that is also in the 1st round!! and, just a single vote!!

I moved to Australia to get away from the soccer, so for me it's a BIG bonus that it's not gonna be in Aus
Well that's not the only reason I moved to be honest

FWIW, I reckon Australia would have done a good job of hosting the WC - as would have England.

It only cost some $43m to present the case. Money well spent to negate the possibility of spending $billions if Australia had "won".
I for one am nauseated by the amount of taxpayers' cash spent on all these events. Not to mention the sight of prime ministers, governors general, princes and myriads of hangers-on flying around the world to fawn over the members of these panels.

Maybe but the UK airing a programme 'suggesting' the FIFA panel were all corrupt and accepting bribes 2 days before the vote probably wasn't the best plan to get them on-side for the england bid really....

Sure, but that's democracy and freedom of speech. If FIFA are basing their decision on the contents of a TV documentary then England are better off without the WC.

It was always going to be a no-win situation though because if they waited til afterwards it just looks like sour-grapes.
Think they are better off without it - as is Australia. The only people in the hosting country it seems to benefit are the actual fans themselves cos its cheaper for them to go to the matches, and the tourism industry. Yet its us taxpayers end up footing the bill. I say let the tourism industry cough up the money for the bids for all these events (and exorbitant appearance fees for ridiculous 'celebrities' to take part in sporting events).

I think it is great that Panorama did those programmes. Well done to British investigative journalism again!!!!
