Default The best suburbs in and around perth

I have done some research on various suburbs, but would really appreciate any advice from anyone that is living there on which suburbs are most desirable especially with having two small children. Thanks

Well, I guess it all depends on how much money you have. If money no object then the "western" suburbs near the city come out top: Dalkeith, Nedlands, Peppermint Grove, Mt. Claremont. Other good suburbs are South Perth and Applecross, City Beach. All expensive though.

Further north Harbour Rise and Whitfords Beach estate on Hillaries are nice. Iluka is a good suburb too.

You will of course gte differing opionions on suburb based on experience but here's my tuppence worth.

Secret Harbour and Quinns Rock are 2 extremes - one the notherne tip of Perth, the other southern. While I'm sure I'll get shouted down, personally I would not say they are in the league as the ones Renth mention. However you will find a massive difference in house prices. Median house prices in those mentioned will be in excess of $1M I would imagine.

Many brits on here tend tend toward north of river or further south around Rockingham Mandurah.

Perosnally I have lived in in the strip between the city and Freo on the south side - Mt Pleasant, Ardross, Bicton etc. All along this strip is really nice, good schools (Applecross High, Ardoss Primary), good shopping at Garden City. Only minutes on bus or train into city and Fremantle. The subsurbs adjoining the rivers are obviously uppish price wise but there are still some bargains to be had. This isnt an area Ive seen much about on here but if I were back in Perth thats where Id be.

Between $400 - $500, typical 4bed 2bath family home, not to far from beach but not to far to get into city, also near to good schools and shops.

Thanks for your help with this.

OK, so totally different to the "best suburbs in Perth" then.

I'd say, Edgewater.

That (well the $500 end) would get you in the areas I mentioned. As Renth said though, not "the best".

Thanks for all the advice everyone, looks like we will have to start off in Secret Harbour then for now as we only have $500 to spend on a house when we've sold our house here.

For $500/week you would get a 4 by 2 in a nice suburb a lot closer to the city than Secret Harbour.

You can get a 4x2 in Mullaloo north of the city for $550 a week near to the beach.
