I haven't been there but we're looking for similar. For $750K you should be able to buy something in Redcliffe or Scarborough, which everyone says is lovely. Woody point is cute but I haven't seem much for sale there. Prices might go up soon with all that work going on. Kippa Ring has some nice spots. Have a look on Google Earth and some of the real estate sites e.g. realestate.com.au or domain and compare.
Can't comment on how you get on for community as they are suburbs in a city. How much you get involved in local events, school, clubs etc probably influences whether you feel part of a community or not. Some of the smaller towns on the Sunshine Coast might fit your bill better.
