Anyone working within the Australian NHS?
Hi
My OH Amy currently works within the NHS in the UK, as the manager of a team specialising in people with Obesity and Postural problems.
She would like to know if there are similar units/departments with the hospitals in Australia.
As the role is very specific it doesn't come up on the skilled list or job sites. So we wasn't sure if this field of work is used in Australia. Im sure it is but if anyone can offer any help/advice. We would really appreciate it.
Thank you

• IRSM Level 3 National Pool plant operators certificate
• Fitness Instructor Award Level 2

• Nutrition and weight management
• Advanced Cardiovascular training
• Advanced resistance training
• Advanced exercise and fitness knowledge
• Client lifestyle and fitness assessment
• Training in different environments

I am sure a lot of these mean nothing to some of you (As they dont me ) We are just trying to find out if there are similar jobs available to Amy. If so what area. Public/Private Hospitals or are these facilities just provided by private individual businesses?

Not really. Public Health is very hung up on (degree and post graduate) qualifications and registration, I doubt she'd get a look in TBH.

As Quoll says need university degrees to do this kind of work in Aus. Only thing she could do would be work at a gym or such like and I do not think Aus is short of people with these qualifications.
Our medical fraternity mainly work for themselves and do work in public health as well and they are not keen on anyone who does not have the right qualifications as they see it as downgrading skills here.
Anything to do with medical head to uni get experience and then apply
