Warm sea water, again you don't have to fly to another country.
Apple computers.
Lamb
Although supermarkets, telephone/broadband and power are cheaper in the UK, I'm not saving any money from my (reduced) Aussie pension, and am dipping into savings. In Oz my savings also earned me 10 times as much interest as in the UK, thus I'm not convinced that swings and roundabouts are working in my favour.

He's currently driving an old Mitsubishi mirage as we spent most of the budget on my car

Agree about Bunnings/B&Q, especially for specialised stuff and tools. B&Q have a few headline bargains but are generally more expensive than independent plumbing/timber/bathroom/tile/electrical suppliers. I renovated 4 properties in the UK and rarely bought from B&Q - unless I needed something on a Sunday. Bunnings beat them hands down on tools. Screwfix is a great option in the UK - wish they were here
The Mitsubishi Triton that I recently bought is much cheaper than in the UK (where it's called the L200), has better specs and a better warranty

It would be quite hard I think. Many things used to be cheaper but arent now. If 12 years ago someone had told me that living in the UK would be cheaper than Australia today I would have called them mad but it is the reality.

Everyone experiences things differently. I don't find Australia expensive, but I moved from Slough to Adelaide. Others will find it very expensive - imagine moving from Wales to Perth. Everyone has a different perspective.

Most electric goods, definitely not but it did used to be the case.
TV license, yes but I willingly pay it.
Unlimited mobile plans, you could be right but I only use PAYG.

The other plans are like 30 day contracts in my opinion. If you don't use all your credit you lose it

The $35 plan is monthly - but there is a mention of a third plan which is PAYG - credit lasts up to a year. That's better than expiring credit if you are a low user

Is UK PAYG credit unlimited timewise ? Never seen that here. That would have to be an expensive way to go surely ?

I always took PAYG to mean no contract ?

Yep - why is that expensive? I've charged my phone 3 times so far, and lose money every time it goes out of date. My UK phone was charged just after arriving, and still works if I wanted to use it to make calls. Think I have to use it once a year minimum to keep it active - not sure on top ups after that
