Re: Anyone emigrating from Northern Ireland
It would be lovely if Aussie system was as easy as ours, then we could just arrive when it suits us lol.
And get the welfare when you arrive
What does your OH do?. The 175 is the way to go as they call it the golden ticket so you can go where you want and work at what ever you want

Re: Anyone emigrating from Northern Ireland
Hi everyone
We're another crowd from Northern Ireland (Dundonald) hoping to make the big move! We are just at the beginning of the paperwork. I'm a nurse, so we are going down the 175 route based on my skills. So first off I am applying for my nursing registration in Queensland, as then I can do a modified skills assessment which costs less and involves less paperwork
So I am just waiting on my ward manager getting my reference together and then I can get stuff certified and off to the QNC.
We are hoping to start off in Brisbane, but have always had a hankering for Coffs Harbour (spent a good bit of time there both times we have been travelling in Australia)... Unfortunately there isn't as many of the nursing jobs that I specialise in around those parts, but will see how things go
Keeping an open mind about everything
I'm doing the paperwork myself, the nursing skills assessment seems pretty straight forward to me, so I guess I am lucky there, but if it gets confusing at any stage I would definitely opt for the agent.
Hoping that there is another interest rate drop in the next while to help the housing market get back on its feet, only one of the houses around us has shifted in the last couple of months, and they had greatly reduced their prices. We weren't planning on puting the house on the market until we put in the visa application...
Hope to get chatting with you all some more, its nice to know how other locals are getting on

Welcome to the thread lol. Sounds like you are getting on well by yourself on your application, so you may be lucky and save on an agent. We are in Carrickfergus, my husband used to drive to dundonald for work until he moved to mallusk recently. As for the housing market, we just put ours up on friday. Nerve wrecking worrying about gettin it sold, although this IS the time of year for buyers usually so hopefully that will help it a little along with the inevitable rate cut on Thursday!

I did hear that about having kids in Aus LOL
I hope my husband has the correct costs down so if it is wrong I will apologise in advance LOL. You should try calling them now as it is after 9am with them now this would be a good time to get hold of someone
We have applied for a 175 skilled visa.

We are using Bryon Pugh/Mege as well and you pay in stages. It is well worth the money and you know that your application is correct first time round as they check it throughly before submitting it. I am Fairwayskid's wife BTW

Hey nadine, yeah I rang and was speaking to Byron, shes is lovely, she asked how I heard about her and when I said BE, she laughed and asked me was it the craigs. When I said your first name she said everyone has been telling her the lovely things you'd say about her, she seemed well happy lol. Hey maybe you could ask for sales commission lol.

You will get on very well with her as she is so down to earth and very laid back, she is indeed very friendly and as Helena says she will do everything in her power to help you through the visa process.
We received a negative TRA the first time and really without Byrons encouragement and optimism we prob wouldnt have known to appeal and she got us a positive trades assessment a few weeks later.
Keep me posted on how you get on.
You should head to the Emigrate expo in March as Byron will be there promoting her company and there is many other things and other helpful companies that help with decision making.

Hi Denise
Yeah we are both going on the sat 8th we,re going treat Byron to a coffee
Our TRA was done using the agent the first time as well but there was just some confusion with Qualifications. We had to map out in loads of detail my Qualifications and then Byron and her team paired these with the Australian Qualifications it didnt take to long to submit it and get it passed.
I have to admit that it was quite a stressful time and to be honest I think I cried all day as I thought my dream was shattered but thankfully it all worked itself out.

Hi Nadine,
We are in Newtownards. I too think its amazing the amount of people on the move to Oz, before we decided to go I'd never heard of anyone going - now it seems every other person I speak to knows of someone who is going
Still no word on a CO, I emialed our agent last night to tell her pcc's have been requested and meds are booked so she can send us any info that we need to take with us. We are having them done in Downpatrick at the beginning of March, I phoned around and they worked out the cheapest - £437 for meds and xrays for all of us

We had our medicals done in Coleraine Hosp and Medical centre there is only my Husband and I and it cost £220 thats for everything so I suppose it wasnt to bad.The Doc was very pleasent and there really is nothing to worry about the Medicals are pretty straightforward.
When are you planning on moving and where to?
