Is our panel doctor correct?

He says we need to have an AIDS test as part of the NZ medical, which we're doing this week. Don't get me wrong, I'm not worried about the test (already had two last year as a matter of hospital routine when I had operations to insert then later remove a pin in my arm) but it does seem a waste of forty quid!

Thanks for the answer.

Hi Jez, well I am persuming that the screening for New Zealand is the same as for Australia and in which case yes you do need testing for AIDS! Deb

We had our medical last week and we did have a blood test, although our doctor said it was not for AIDS but syphillis, they only do AIDS test for Australia.

Yes, for NZ you need a blood test, but NOT for AIDS,
its for the other one, Syphilis (yes I know that's not how you spell it, I mean, how many times in your life would you want to write it anyway!)
I speak from experience as I had my medicals a few months ago.

When you received your medicals were they in a sealed envelope or did you just send the loose forms off to the NZIS.

Thanks
