The McInTyre System
Just read the AFL 22 rounds thread. Noone has ever discussed the McIntyre system.
Reminds me that both NRL and AFL play the McIntyre system - both using a different system. Some people prefer the NRL one, some the AFL - I think one might have stolen the system used previously by another but I'm not sure.
There are tens of different systems eg the 1974 McIntyre 8 system, the 1955 McIntyre 6 ..
What they all have in common is that:
For anyone who is unsure, basically the top 8 teams play each other in a knockout comp to work out the two Grand Finalists.
There is a seeding of sorts as the two top teams, for example, have an easier run in by playing less knockout games, and other well placed teams may get a home knockout game.
Losing a knockout, depending on how high placed you are, may mean you get a second bite of the cherry in another knockout game.
