Default Accommodation ideas for sydney pls (jan 09)

Hello, our family only migrated this January and later in the year we have the boys Nanny coming over for a long visit and are planning on a trip to Sydney just after the new year. We are thinking about 5-days and ideally looking at either a 2-bed apartment, so that we are all together or maybe 2 seperate rooms in a hotel.

We have searched many websites for many many hours and although we expected the prices to be costly, it's alot more than expected. We have searched different areas, as obviously the nearer you are the more expensive the hotels became..

If anyone has any ideas to accommodate 3 adults and 2 children we would love to hear your comments and ideally we would like to be as close as possible to the attractions without the need of long taxi's.

Many thanks

Russ, Sarah (luke & Liam ), email: [email protected]

Hi, not really sure whats a reasonable budget or cost for a room or 2, but ideally we were looking at around $150-$200 per night and hopefully would accommadate 5 of us, as opposed to two rooms of $200 per night.

Thankyou

Hi,

We've previously stayed at http://www.cremornepointmanor.com.au/ It has a family room, includes breakfast and use of the kitchen. We went there a couple of years ago with my parents for Australia Day and really enjoyed it.

The family room consists of a main bedroom with double bed, a small bathroom with shower and toilet and another bedroom with a bunk-bed and single bed. It would therefore sleep 5 if Nanny doesn't mind being in with the children.

It's in a lovely position across the bay and is a short walk to the ferry stop which takes you across to the opera house.

We're originally from Herts too. The Watford, Croxley Green, Ricky area.

Have a good trip

January is absolute peak season which is why everything is coming out so expensive. The only thing I can suggest to keep the cost down is to look at suburbs with good transport links into the city, rather than the city itself. You might also find a holiday house (look at Stayz.com) a better option than a hotel. I just had a quick look and they had a cute 3 bed terrace house in the city for $200 a night in January but I'm guessing that you would need to think of booking pretty much now to get anything in that price range.
