is 457 my only chance?
Hi,
I've been trying to work my way through the Australian Visa system since February. I've completed the Skills Assessment with ACS and this was successful, I've had the IELTS English test and got 10 points for this (missed 20 by 0.5 on 1 part of the test) and had submited my EoI by 17th June as my 45th birthday was 4th July. As the age was changed on 1st July you can imagine my disappointment when I didn't receive the invitation to apply.
So what are my options now? I know of the 457 visa but this is proving difficult as many companies dont offer sponsorship - or so it seems....
I have been in contact with a company 'Aurec' who offer to sponsor you on 457 and help with getting employment but I'm keen to understand if there are other ways or suggestions from you wonderful people
I'm keen to try ALL options and appreciate any tips

Re: is 457 my only chance?
457 is available until next year:
DIBP website:
On 18 April 2017, the Government announced that the Temporary Work (Skilled) visa (subclass 457 visa) will be abolished and replaced with the completely new Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa in March 2018.
so still time for 457. It's finding the employer that is willing to sponsor that is proving difficult.

Also you do realise that the 457 is only a temporary visa?

Hi Pollyana,
I know the 457 is temporary but it gives me a route to change to permanent I believe after a period of time.
I'm also married so dating websites are not an option... unless my husband fancies a divorce for a short period of time.....

It wouldn't give you an option as the company sponsored permanent options - 186 and 187 have also reduced the age limit to 45.
