189 visa. Studying in oz and student finance
Hey so if we come on a 189 visa...Could my husband complete his nursing degree in oz? Do they do 'student finance' equivalent?
I know he can study there on a 189 but what about the funding element?
Thanks Jemma

To answer your question, though, you will not qualify for HECS or HELP, which are only available to citizens. There may be some student loans and/or grants available to permanent residents, but you would have to use Google to find them. You will however pay domestic fees for studying which will save thousands over paying as a temporary resident.

Have you got a 189 visa? From your post history you are also looking at New Zealand and Canada. I think your first priority is to see where you actually want to live then worry about the studying thing.

Need to check looks like it wasn’t passed see here
http://studyassist.gov.au/sites/studyassist/helpfulresources/pages/hereform-faqs
So commonwealth places are available but no loans. There are also no maintenance loans here.
This means you have to pay up front for course fees. Good news is that most degrees here are very modular and can be done very flexibly.
Check on uni websites for more details. Also scholarships are available.
