Alternatively some of us have been trapped in Australia for over a decade waiting for a time when we could afford to move back... I was *sooo* nearly there - if fx rate drops then I'm back into "no f&*king chance" territory.

Yes my holiday spending money is effected - but ultimately theres the potential for me to up-end my entire family if only the numbers hold out.

--But yes I take your point - anyone committed to moving south over the last year or so has had a torrid time and current movements may be a slight 'window of opportunity' --

While its this volatile, people get rich.

Most go into panic mode, or sell

Keep calm and BUY.

Done it before with shares and currency, the panic never lasts forever.

As for aussie property, I have said it over and over, aussies go one factor only, they dont really seem to care whats happening overseas, all they want to know is aussie interest rates, watch them jump back in as cuts are mentioned. Happens every time.

Fine times indeed

I'd say that 1.5/1.6 to 1 is about as "there" as it will ever become. But of course it's also about getting everything else to time in with it.

For sure. It's such a common sense statement, it just never ceases to amaze me that such a signifigant number of investors start selling stocks at the slightest hint of a downturnof confidence in the market. Suckers ;-)

You are so right, things were good there for a few months - sadly some of us seem to have missed this boat so we can hope that there will be a bounce back. Bad rate, just in time for my holidays, bugger it!

I disagree. It's still a very good rate - just a smidge off it's best, that's all. You'll likely get at worst just a few tens of pounds less for your AUD spending money.

...Some people are just never happy

I went to order my booty and Amazon UK don't ship Kindle's to Aus so I had to split between Amazon US and UK. Looking forward to my new gadget

Now, as you were

Still the same now as it was then as far as I can see. The trend is still down...

I was taking the mickey ;-)
The implication was that the exchange rate will keep changing, so may make more sense to rename the most popular thread to "GBP/AUD Exchange rate discussion", rather than opening a new one every 6 months

A new one can be started with the milestones...I remember starting a $1.99 thread! There really should've been a $1.50 thread.
